I just made a workshop on electrolytic etching with Alfonso Crujera.
This is my first electrolytic etching. The "aquatint" is made without resin, by introducing the plate in the electrolyte without varnish you get this microdot. It is not as pretty as the aquatint dot, but it is nice enough, has lots of possibilities and is not toxic!
This is a very suggestive technique. You cover the plate with graphite ink and then draw or dilute the ink, you let it dry and put it in the electrolyte. It has two effects: it blocks the plate when you have a thick layer, but as the graphite conducts the electricity, when the ink is a bit diluted you get some nice dots and textures in the plate.
This is a passive etching, which means you don't have to connect electricity to the plates. This is the easiest technique but the results are amazing. With zinc plates you get very deep and clean bites (?)
The same plate printed without ink, what's the english name for this?
I'm very happy about the possibilities of the technique, and it was wonderful to work in a non smelling workshop!

trekking in Pirineos
I just came from my camping in Pirineos. I brought with me 5 pentel brushes which I filled with the three primary colours, a warm green, black and brown and a pencil, and I've been drawing every time we had a rest (it's much easier to start drawing that with the watercolours box, so you end up drawing much more).
